The University of Leicester is requiring all its staff support any students who turn to prostitution and other sex work to fund their studies. Two years since the cap on university tuition fees was removed, more students are turning to a variety of adult jobs to help them get by.
Appearing on live webcams and selling used clothes were also cited as popular sources of incomes for some students. The survey also showed that two thirds of all students needed to earn their own money in some way to survive at university.
Despite that, the policy states, many sex workers worry about family and friends finding out what they do, which potentially makes them less likely to report crimes against them.
